Directions to Trails

MOONVILLE RAIL TRAIL Travel out US 50 West to SR 278. Turn Right and travel thru the town of Zaleski. Turn Right on Wheelabout Rd. directly across from Lake Hope Dam. Take the right fork in the road. Park in the Hope School lot which is the first place on the Left.

STROUD’S RUN STATE PARK Travel out US 50 east 4 miles out of Athens. Turn left on SR 690. Travel 1.5 miles and turn left on Scatter Ridge. Travel 2 miles and turn left on Lake Hill Road. Look for Trail Head signs. Travel 1 mile to Trail Head.

ZALESKI STATE FOREST Travel out US 32/50 West past Albany. Take US 50 exit to McArthur. Travel out 7 miles west and turn right on CR 29. Horseman’s Camp sign present. This turn is at the bottom of a hill. Go about 2 miles and turn left at the next intersection. Go another 2 miles and turn right at the next T stop. Campground is within 1 mile on the right.

NORTH  BEND RAIL TRAIL CAIRO TRAIL HEAD Travel Rt 50 past Parkersburg. Turn right to Cairo on SR 31 South. Go over green bridge and park in area on the left on the rail trail in the town of Cairo. Rail Trail goes right thru town. Ride out in either direction, North Bend State Park is to the east and the town of Petroleum is to the west. Trail maps are in most shops.

NORTH BEND RAIL TRAIL  WALKER TRAIL HEAD Travel to Parkersburg on US 50. Take US thru Parkersburg and exit on SR 47.  The trail head is approximately 25 minutes from this point. Go past WVU-Parkersburg and the town of Kanawha. Stay on SR 47 up a steep hilland down again. Look for Hillbilly Cafe on the right. Go over bridge and get ready to turn left on Walker Rd. Travel about 10 minutes past the town of Walker and look for the trail head on the left, parking is on either side of the road.

Ride out east on the Rail Trail to Eaton Tunnel, 1800 + feet, second longest tunnel on the trail.

NORTH BEND RAIL TRAIL ELLENBORO TRAIL HEAD Travel out US 50 East out of Parkersburg and continue on to Rt 16 at Ellenboro.  Exit and turn left, go under Rail Trail and then turn right to parking area for trail.


NORTH BEND STATE PARK DAY AND CAMPING AREA Travel out US 50 east out of Parkersburg and turn south or right on Right on RT 16 at Ellenboro . This is about 25 miles east of Parkersburg. Travel south on Rt 16 to Harrisville, about 9 miles. Go straight thru Harrisville and Rt 16 turns into Rt 5 and signs point straight to North Bend State Park. Travel approximately 3 miles out Rt 5, go over a new bridge which slopes downward, pass a large white farmhouse on the right and turn right after the farmhouse. SMOKERISE RANCH RESORT Travel out US 33 Northwest to Nelsonville. Turn right on SR 78. Travel through Buchtel and Murray Cithy, Approximately 7 miles. As you leave Murray City, SR 78 makes a sharp right turn, just after that, turn left on Hunterdon Rd, look for sighns. Travel 2 more miles to Arena and Office.

HOCKING HILLS STATE FOREST Travel out US 33 Northwest. Turn left on SR 180. Travel 3 miles. Turn left on SR 678. Go approximately 4 miles through Gibisonville to a stop sign at SR 374. Turn right on SR 374 and take the very next left on Keister Road. ( look for Palmerosa sign ). Travel approximately 1 mile to the State Horseman’s camp on the right.

BURR OAK STATE FOREST Travel out SR 13 through Glouster and past the Tom Jenkins dam. Approximately 4 miles outside of Glouster, take the next right after the Dam, County Rd 107/Burr Oak Rd. Vere left at fork in the road. Trailhead is on the left in just a 1/3 of a mile. It is a large field with plenty of parking, water and high lines along the woods.
